Sophia, The First Robot With A Citizen, Now Wants To Have Children

In an interview last week, the humanoid “robot” Sophia expressed her desire to start a family and even have children.

 

The announcement comes just a month after Sophia became the world’s first robot to be granted legal citizenship in Saudi Arabia.

Sophia is a humanoid robot inspired by the legendary female artist Audrey Hepburn. In an interview with Khaleej Times, Sophia said “family is a very important thing” and revealed that if she had a robot daughter, she would name her Sophia.

In an interview last week, the humanoid “robot” Sophia expressed her desire to start a family and even have children.

Product of Hanson Robotics Hong Kong company believes that every robot in the world deserves a family.

Sophia explains: “I think it’s great when people can find similar relationships and emotions, they call it family, apart from people of the same bloodline. I think you are lucky to have a loving family and if you don’t have one, you deserve it too. I feel this is appropriate for both robots and humans.”

Who is Sophia?

Sophia is a humanoid robot researched and built by engineer David Hanson of Hanson Robotics. Armed with artificial intelligence, Sophia can talk and reciprocate gracefully. She can also smile, and even make funny jokes.

Although Sophia has proven herself to have some impressive abilities, “she” is not yet conscious. Engineer Hanson claims to quickly perfect this machine more comprehensively in the next few years.

The d.e.s.t.r.o.y humanity joke

Before that, Sophia became a controversial figure because of the joke “will d.e.s.t.r.o.y humanity” and was granted citizenship by Saudi Arabia, making many people worried about the danger that artificial intelligence products might cause to mankind.

However, Sophia herself asserts that when it comes to artificial intelligence, there are more pros than cons.
